motorcycle helmets

As I got my motorcycle license a few days ago I thought about which motorcycle helmet I should buy.

Post the coolest looking helmets you know (full face covering). I want a matt black one with a "move over arrow" on the front and a facepalm on the back :P But I guess it will be hard to find anything like that with proper security and a payable price :S

Hopefully I can drive a Triumph Daytona 675 anytime soon :>

mad /!\ polak who wants but can't afford motor cycle?
Parent
estonian* put I deffnitely agree with your point
Parent
u are wrong
Parent
motorcycles cost much less than a proper car
Parent
so for most people its not about "being able to afford it" but more about "being able to stay alive"
Parent
Or most ppl see a motorcycle as an addition to a car but don't have the money to buy a proper car + bike.

No wait.. motorcycle = death so you are right.
Parent
If you have never been in motorcycle crash then yes stfu ;)
Parent
I see death everywhere in this journal :(
Parent
i dont get ur arrogant attitude but hennessy is still a tard for saying that
Parent
If that retard wishes me to crash then why shouldn't I sound arrogant/cocky to him?

I am actually not arrogant or cocky in real life at all. Of course driving a motorcycle is dangerous. More dangerous than driving a car. But it is fun. Drinking alcohol, taking drugs and snowboarding is dangerous as well. Yet a lot of ppl do it.

Buy a matt black helmet and two stickers..
As far as I know stickers aren't allowed as the "glue" could do damage to the stability of the helmet (like the glue gets hot and melts into the "surface" of the helmet). Atleast that's what they told me 5 years ago when making the small motorcycle license.
Parent
what? a sticker could damage the helmet? the helmet protect your head by crashing the worset accidents but a sticker is killing it? :D
Parent
I just googled it and the answer is yes.
Parent
strange, but ok^^
Parent
That is true regarding stickers, never put any on your helmet. What ever helmet you decide to get in the end, make sure you first go to a store and try a few on, get some help also while in the store because they have to fit correctly. This is mine (if the link works) - http://www.motorcycleobsession.com/Suomy-Vandal-Aces-Helmet.html
Parent
do u know smth about airbrushing and helmets? I thought a matt black one with airbrush would be nice :P
Parent
http://www.theairbrushforum.com/questions-answers-airbrush/467.htm - Personally I would have a bright one that stands out so you can be seen :)
Parent
buy one that matches your bike
Drive by von der Hayabusa Maschine
Bell got some nice matt black helmets, price arounds 100-500e. Just google and look.
I agree but I thought about something "originaly". Not some random helmet that every 2nd guy has :P
Parent
All I can say is don't go cheap on your protection gear especially the helmet!!

some really really coole helmets out there. gues some of them will be only allowed in the usa, at least not in yermany :)
Parent

mine. bought it few weeks ago. really nice ventilation, weight and quality overall. could be a little quieter tho. but for that price, its just top! would buy it again.
louis are pretty much the worst guys to buy motorcycle equipment from. Atleast in Austria they scam unexperienced ppl with overpriced shit stuff.
Parent
well look at the price. 359,95€ dropped to 239,95€. you can check for other prices of the model online, it is really low. plus, you have to check if the helmet fits your head. just because in your old helemt you got L 60, doesnt mean your new one from a different company will fit you at that size. So you cannot buy blindly. Then the employees @ germany are really experienced and competent, at least at my store they are ^^. Ofc they will try to sell you the more expensive stuff, why wouldn't they? but they also always point out their special offers, like my helmet. In addition, I always get the 20% off card form my driving instructor who i stayed in contact with ;).

So all I am saying is, check it out for yourself. If they are really as shitty as you say in Austria I am sure yo know some alternatives. Louis is just the nearest shop to me, and i got that 20% there, so it was the obvious choice.
Parent
Ye that's a nice price drop but price doesn't say much :P Best example was some other guy I had driving lessons with. He went to Louise for a helmet and they talked him into the "special offer" helmet for 650€ (which normally costs 1000€). He had to swap the helmet 3 times. At the 3rd time he asked for the money though.

And I know from experienced motorcycle drivers that the customer service at Louise is just talking bullshit when you ask for their help. My alternative is to drive to italy to get all the gear for half the price (same brands/models as in Austria) :P
Parent
that sounds like a good idea :D

Seems there is a huge gap between the customer service in our countries. When I go and want to buy a helmet, I tell them: Hi, my budget is like 200-250€. Thats what i want to spend on a helmet. what are your suggestions? Then I look at what they come up with and check the alternatives. I have no idea how you can do that wrong. Getting input about stuff on the internet or friends beforehand is not that hard. If you (he) get scamed into buying a helmet originally costing 1000€ you dont care that much about your money anyway i believe..

But if you get good stuff cheap in italy and its arround the corner, then gl hf there. would be my choice too then. You could buy a good black helmet like the x-701 for example and get some airbrush done btw ;)
Parent
Ye Italy is a lot cheaper for car/motorcycle parts & accessiors. Also repair costs a way cheaper (engine swap on my car was 1000€ while in austria/germany you have to pay 5000€-7000€.. so repair + vacation = repairing in austria).

Airbrushing sounds like a good idea :D

nice bike :)

I think I wont ever need a 1000ccm.. and for the beginning a 600ccm is more then enough :P
Parent
Yeah thats true mate, my cousin bought Yamaha R6 some months ago just to 'learn' to ride a motor.

He'd like to buy a R1 or atleast 1000ccm in couple of year ;)
Parent
Not sure what it's like in Austria but in Germany you can get a 600ccm and restrict its power to I think 60hp and get comfortable with it more easily and save on taxes.

I don't have any motorcycle experience but I'm sure that R6 unrestricted is still beast even though it is "only" 600ccm.
Parent
restricting kits usually damp to 34hp since that is the maximum power you are allowed to handle (for 2 years) when you get your license when you're under 25
Parent
and it can't be very healthy for the engine when most engine crashes/failures on the daytona 675 come from the power restriction :S
Parent
of course not, engines are designed for the power they output, restricting kits work by artificially creating bottlenecks (as cheaply and simple as possible)... that cant be healthy
Parent
Ah, thanks for clearing that up! Now I'm even more impressed by the R6 for having 106hp.
Parent
and You're beginner? I hope You know what you're doing mate, it's pretty fast
Parent
dat Suzuki, daaamn!
Parent
<3333333 stylish
Parent
hope you are not one of this faggots that i see every morning when i drive to work, hunting down the streets @ the city with 130kmh+. For this i rly hate motorcycle drivers.
no I will not drive through the city with 130kmh... but I am surely not one of those who drive 30 km/h when 50 km/h are allowed and 60 km/h are possible.
Parent
Quote but I am surely not one of those who drive 30 km/h when 50 km/h are allowed

tbh i never saw a motorcycle driver doing this. But i dont understand why it is that hard to just drive "normal" with a motorcycle. Especially in the city in the morning when there are children crossing the streets going to school etc. Some (many here at my city) drivers are rly braindamged, i could just smash them in the face at the next red traffic light - yes i hate them a lot.
Parent
I generally take a lot of care when driving in citys. As you said: people crossing the roads, children playing, etc.
