UCAS Applications, they're fun too!

The deadline is Monday!

Today I sent mine through the merry land of intranets towards whichever kind soul happens to read it; theoretical physics at durham, nottingham, manchester, sheffield, st andrews or sussex(!), or perhaps none, depending on how the wind flies.

Where have you budding medicine men, scientists and general layabouts applied to, and for that matter, what have you applied to do! Do you hope to be a billionaire media mogul, or perhaps a lowly painter - Whatever your poison, I wish you to exclaim it so that I may mock you with my superior intellect and theorising skills!

whats your point?
That you and your entire family are molesting biggots, whose only purpose in life is to perform the act of incest and generally belittle the ideals and norms of society. Wait, no, I'm pretty sure it had something to do with UCAS.

mature, didnt expect anything else from sock

I'm glad I met your expectations, is that not a good thing?
Parent
fuck you and fuck your relativs you fucking cunt

I got mine away on the 15th December, had 2 offers already!

mechanical engineering @ leeds uni BBC
electronic engineering @ sheffield ABB

Also applied for Nottingham and Liverpool.

I'd have liked to theoretical physics, it seems my kind of subject. I suppose you've seen this website - http://www.tenthdimension.com/flash2.php
I was going to apply for engineering, mechanical or civil, but in the end I decided that theory was more my thing - Thought it might be a little bit more challenging.
Parent
Heey... I'm doing electronic engi at sheffield :)
Parent
Small world eh...you enjoying the course?
Parent
Yeah... superb :) I'm struggling to learn now, since the exams are v14 !!!
You'd get a nice semiconductors course in the very first semester, so you should be prepared for some physics. It's said to be the hardest in the whole year (and I kinda agree).

Was going to apply to a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Music at Strathclyde University but I figure since by the time it starts it will have been 3 years since I last studied music, so I'm going to do an HND in Music Performance first. Application doesn't start until 1st of February for that and it's not through UCAS.

I've still kept this from the first time I went to University: http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/838/omgrv3.jpg

:P
you're well fucking late sock. I was one of the last in my year to send it off and that was in the start of december, everyone else did theirs at start-mid November.

so far got 3 replies where as others have all 6 ;(

oh and my 6 are; Lincoln, Bournemouth, Christchurch Canterbury, Kent, Aberdeen and Northumbria. All are for Computing except Kent's is something similar but more heavily based around the internet
Hahaha yeah, my form teacher was riding me like a bitch for most of december, I just ignored her. It's physics though so I don't think there'll be that big a shortage of places.

Should have known you'd be doing computer related studies, you little hacker you ;oP!

im sending mine away tonight / tomorrow

Computer Games Technology @ Paisley
Some other course similar @ Caley
I sent mine away a couple of weeks before christmas.

Applied to do physics at:

Bath
Manchester
Liverpool
Birmingham
Bristol
Salford

I've got 3 offers (AAB at Liverpool + Birmingham and BBB at salford). As well as an interview type thing at Manchester.
I take it salford's your insurance policy, mines sussex - I really don't want to go that far south, but who knows! What kind of physics are you doing anyway, or is it just a plain physics degree?
Parent
Yeah Salford is my insurance, i got estimated low grades so I put that in there so i'd at least get something. Just doing straight physics.
Parent
Sent mine off at the start of November, and that was late in my school =o

Applied to do English Language and Linguistcs and got offers from Sheffield and Manchester, 3 rejections because i stupidly thought courses that stated AAB would consider an ABB student and still awaiting on a response from Edinburgh (first choice atm).

Why anyone would want to do Physics is beyond me, dropped that after an awful year at AS (got a C but it's just so shit).
physics is by far the most interesting of the 3 tbfh.
Parent
Take no notice, he's one of those 'English' types
Parent
Pff, your teachers must be quite stingy with the grades, you need a kindly old form teacher to bump up your grades just before the application goes out ;oP!

Physics is just more definite than anything else out there, you can't argue with an equation and results which correlate to empirical evidence; you can, however, argue forever about the correct interpretation of "War and Peace" - Unless you go and ask the author and realise they were just stoned at the time.
