.dat files

I aaccidentally opened a .dat file with BSPlayer and now when I for instance change the name to movie.avi it remains a .dat file...

If you know what I mean... Is their any way to solve this problem???
It's quite important because most of the .dat files I download are episodes of series I watch.

open .dat with daemon tools :O

Rename with dos prompt:

rename movie.avi.dat movie.avi or something like that.

open command prompt in windows move the file to an easy location as you have to type the whole file path.

i.e c:/rename c:/movie.avi.dat c:/movie.avi

type c:/rename /? for sytnax
