Potential RTCW/ET LAN!

Hello dear Crossfire members,
Voice and I are looking into the possibility to organise an ET/RTCW LAN somewhere this October/November!
Over the past couple of months we've heard a lot of people in both communities mentioning they'd love another LAN.
With the ever dwindling number of players in these games it's not going to be easy to arrange such a LAN hence we're turning to you.
Before we start setting things in motion that are hard to turn around, we want to make sure there is infact enough interest from the community. With the recent cancellation of the Hungarian LAN fresh in our memory, we want to avoid such an event.
So with this post we'd like to ask you if there is indeed such interest, and what it would require for (some of) you to come to another LAN .
What we can tell you now is this (very basic):
- games: RTCW/ET + possible third game if need more 'numbers'
- date: a weekend in October/November (Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
- location: WZZRD Enschede, The Netherlands
- costs: we aim to make the tournament as cheap as possible :)! more tba

Prizes will need to be 100% funded by community donations to keep the entry fee down (that's just to cover running costs only).
we should advertise them as non payers + non liable as a brand that doesnt repect commitment
But LAN is for nerds, we just went to camping during summer with sticked, was way funnier :D
but this gonna never happen anyway.
I would be offended if they work their ass of and he just shows up and gets all the attention/credits :P
but then again he's quite a busy guy these days so I think we'd be lucky overall if he wasn't working at the time :!
We would be leading the show and he would have to pop on as a guest though!

But why not, it doesn't have to be that big of an event. I myself will probably be broke during that time and won't be able to attend :(

but yeah I wouldn't do it unless I was also having a fck off big holiday either side!

I know we have already raised some fund through the Shoutcast Collective stuff, so that's at least some money for prizes!
I'll speak to Voice anyway, but let me know if there's anything that needs doing.

My dutch is terrible but from what I found it ranges from 600 euro to 800 euro per day depending on the configuration/theme?
So with the other server stuff you would need to setup and manage probably closer to 900/1000 euro per day to run?

Auto voor mij bots in de file tegen zijn voorligger, was tijdens die storm van vorige week woensdag (veel regen en bliksem en donder enzo). Plots stond mijn voorligger dan stil zonder da ik remlichten gezien heb, daardoor ben ik er ook nog eens opgereden :d

Just something simple that will show up, if you google his name. Include picture and name and explain what he did.
Wont look good if hes looking for a job or to family and friends if they happen to google his name. Maybe extra motivation for him to pay, or just making a service for other people to know what he did.
EDIT: I dont know the (full) story and what happened. So this incase hes clearly just scammed the money.
If Wzzrd benefitted from, but then casually forgot about the gamers who helped make it a success, its possible that its competitors might be interested instead?
How difficult can it be to set one up and pimp some configs? - just host it near to a bar!
Have you thought about reaching out to the whores about to sell the new Wolfenstein game? - they might throw something your way in return for you guys sticking up some posters and marketing shizzle...nothing ventured etc?
Try keep what actually happened, if you know th story, on the low. If wzzrd find out he has been slagging them off I doubt they will ever cough up!
Things aren't always so clear cut and unfortunately we often only make agreements that are iron-clad in retrospect.
Calling bs might be a little premature unless you are wholly familiar with the circumstances.
Either way he would likely have a strong case (which means that the lawyer fees are irrelevant) should it ever go as high as a court meeting.
a) he's been gullible
b) wzzrd are the scammers
c) he's the scammer
d) he's handling the situation
Also, it's a standard reaction to demand information if you're owed money can't really blame the people above for being impatient or poor :p

2) germany cheap beer and meat (NL ok too, heiniken ftw)
3) NL cheap hotel and tavel for me (380km to adam, 260 to eindhoven) Gb i have to cross the fucking ärmelkanal (English Channel across the sea)
(spelling mistakes and nonsense because of drunk to much)
2) Prices in UK arent that bad outside of pubs - you can generally get good combi deals if you don't limit yourself to single brand.
3) NL Hotels are just as expensive as UK ones unless you are talking about central london which would be the same in the major cities all round the world (new york, paris, madrid etc)
3.2) Travel to the UK is much cheaper than people would assume as well, if you buy a few months beforehand you can get a return flight for €80-85 and for me to get a train from Amsterdam to Enschede for example it cost like €30-40 return. There are always cheap travel options it is just if you are willing to do them or not.
To your other points I can only agree.
Isnt there a LAN center somewhere in London?

the only part about this is that we are just a bit too lazy to organize stuff like the flights and so... at all the past lans we just chilled our asses into the cars and the rest was done on our own :p
