i bet your the type of smartass that makes 15 reps per serie and thinks he understands anything about training.
Your body absorbs 30g MAX per digestion, the other 20g is either transformed in energy or out on your toilet, so yes its a waste of protein.
If you want yout body to absorb 50g of protein you need to take 25g from 2 to 2 hours if you're ectomorph or 3 to 3 if your mesomorph.
