I think it's fair enough. He played just fine and carried his team in most games(without him Argentina would have even bigger troubles getting past groupstage). It's kinda hard when he always got 3-4 players marking him while his teammates don't do shit(argentinas strikers especially). I love how people keep whining that he won but he DIDN'T do as bad as people say. He was constantly drawing attention which is a huge factor. The problem is that the strikers didn't have balls to try to do something without messi being a part of it.

I'm not sure who deserved it more. Maybe Rodriguez or Mascherano. Other than that I don't know. I don't want a drama queen like robben to win it and muller is just a weak player imo.

Its not that he played bad, he did decently every game for Argentina, sometimes even carrying the game by some nice passes, on the other side, he had nearly every game at least 2 guys or sometimes even 3-4 covering him, which at that situation makes things a lot harder, specially when u get tackled and pushed back already at midfield by 3 players.

if anyone was to recieve this award it should be mascherano. its him, not messi, who dragged arg to the final. but defensive players never get such awards? :S

Adidas is one of the main sponsors for the FIFA world cup this year and they were also the once to choose the price winners.
The 3 players who were awarded with prices were all sponsored by Adidas i.e. their clothing and other supplies.
Maybe they did this to market themselves even more!
