Question is: Why did Real sell him. Just why. More money to buy other great players? Maybe but they won't reach Di Maria's level anyway so it's just a fucking mistake they just did.
Cus of James obviously, it was known for a while, if they bring James to real, Di Maria will most likely leave, also on the other side, one of the main reasons was, that Di Maria wanted a lot bigger salary with the new contract he would gain, which is one of the reasons Real brought James in.
the salary part is kinda understandable but stupid, since they paid like 80million for rodriguez, got 75(?) for di maria, 5 million spare for the contract, and yes james is a good player, but atleast at the moment not even close to di marias level!

Not really, he performed entire season sensational at Monaco and even before he got there he was doing very well at Porto, reason Porto got so much cash out of him selling it to Monaco later on. The problem with him is that he isnt fit for top matches of La Liga and CL at general, same as Neymar isnt, both of them require couple of years more to get into that position where they will able to perform great.
Watch how you throw around words like "sensational" as he was above average. Worth half of his transfer fee AT MOST. Without that wonder goal half of crossfire would not even know him unless they played fifa I guess.
He performed by far as one of the best players at Monaco, but like i answered before already, he's lacking couple of years yet to get into that shape for Real, specially not worth the cash they payed for.

As for James, Perez said that he wants after every WC the best player in his team, reason he didnt bother with that high of a price for him, even tho he was completely not needed, instead, they should of renew the contract to Di Maria and Real's squad would be even stronger, with Di maria knowing every player much better and already having that teamplay required for getting quick actions set up.
