There are plans to organize an Enemy Territory/Return to Castle Wolfenstein LAN next year.
What would you be willing to pay to attend this LAN? The following is included in the prize:
- Entrance fee;
- Renting cost for computer;
- Renting cost for monitor.

- HP Desktop C2Duo 3 Ghz, 4096 Mb, DVD/Rw, Lan, 250 Gb Harddisk, Usb
- HP keyboard, HP muis en stroomsnoer;
- HPZR22W - 21,5" flatpanel LCD VGA/DVI - max. resolutie 1920 x 1080 ;

What kind of LAN? Is it a small ET-section at a massive LAN where the real bosses don't give a shit about ET(Hi Antwerp eSports Festival, where we had a greenlight from ET admins to play for 9th/10th(consolation) place but randomly mid game the plugs, literally, got pulled because the PC's were needed for CoD4) or is it a dedicated ET that will clearly be very small(and then the 4th point applies I guess)?
Then comes what competition is there? Am I paying just for the above but I'm not playing for anything? Is there a prizepool/hardware prizes? Most ET players know they are paying for a 'community experience', hanging out and meeting e-friends, but CF is also a competitive community and if there are no prizes there probably won't be (enough)players.
(Personal)Who do I think/know might attend? Since the size of the event is likely very small lots of international people might say 'Nah, not worth the money for me' if it's not appealing enough. Apart from the gMen guys most of my e-friends are not NL/BE, and if I know they won't go I probably won't go myself.
Main things that come to mind, pretty sure there are more 'variables' for international players or other NL/BE guys

Format, personally but I know it goes for many others, if there is no 6on6 ET/RtCW I won't be there. I think a 6on6 main event has to be there to even consider hosting it, some might say a 3on3 RtCW event might work because Merl's work online but remember that loads of those online players are not NL/BE and do they think a 3on3 lan is worth paying planetickets/other travel expenses for?
Won't argue that those specs are enough to play ET/RtCW it's an old game, but if you have a modern PC at home with a 120hz screen that runs the game(and background stuff like voice coms or w/e)super smooth and you have to deal with a C2D and a shitty 60hz monitor I can guarantee you that your playing experience will feel(keyword) horrible and it can easily overshadow your playing experience as a whole when everyone is just complaining about how horrible the pc's are). edit: in which case I'd have no problem bringing my own stuff but if that's no option either for some people it could be reason to not attend as a player
also would be great if theres no fucking door next to the computers :D
if this is hosted in winter.
dunno if some guys remember about WZZRD center the freaking door opening every minute because people had to go outside to smoke and like 20computers wear next to it and -degreees came inside :D
other than that there was always a problem with the delay on everylan think about some decent timeschedule i remember on alot of lans that my team had to play till 3-4 in the morning and had the next game at 9 in the morning while other teams played till 19cet and had their next match on the next day at like 14cet was quite weird :p

And whatever you mean with "I see CF as only ETPro scene" thing.. Still insane is not suspended from all the pb public servers so whats the point? Even if you ip banned him from nbs I bet he has dynamic ip and could join anytime he liked and there is nothing you could do. :P Simple. Publics are not related to CG by anyway, but some PBbans are in certain open database, so either the server have automatic banning system or they simply ban him if they want.
Dynamic IP changes only your port whenever you restart your router and if I remember correctly, only older connections than like 08' still have it (atleast on our server only Polaks and PT guys had it), so that doesn't really change much if we ban some kind of his ip range :)
And if all this is true why dont we use PB anymore? I'm not experiencing huge lags anymore with it :PPP Would be far more usefull anyway than no anticheat at all or CGAC which is "underconstruction" (Please ohurcool read this one!!)
Because PB as it is isn't updated anti-cheat and doesn't exactly catch all the cheats that are still out there, + we also use method from the s1lent creators with the .pk3 pack that simply blocks some cheats (WNX64 from Adawolfa for example) and doesn't allow you to load it, or connect at all.
Also it probably depends on your PC or luck maybe, but my PB makes ET lag and warpy to me, but I also have kinda old PC..

I use it only for ET, quakelive, GTA:SA, Mafia, tf2 and full HD movies :D

Anyway, I found their leagues and cups far better and much more organized than CB's, more serious and stuff. #FREEETCG
ESL "never cared about ET" cause noone played their ladder! :) Only cups when those were made. And as we see now ESL is pretty much only a league for pros and i don't think they would allow any other than the 1st div teams to play there, qualifications every season start ofc etc :>
As long as pb is a legit anticheat, there are no reasons to not ban people caught by pb. Dont forget, it couldnt be aln official ac since its hardly outdated. Pb aint supporting et anymore, since admins decided to remove it from cb in 2009 cause it wasnt as good as they did expect. Also how do u want to get cheaters banned? How do u expect someone getting banned in cg? Cgac :DDdD?
Not here to bring a real discussion, it's more likely to show how "broken" this system is atm :) and a good bye LAN for ET is not bad thing anyway!
