Mouse friction

I have some problem with mouse friction: When a go from left to right <-> then my mouse is like hanging and then it goes futher (like ingame lag). I have only noticed it in windows, not ingame (tested it in cs1.6 and didn't see any mouse friction). I thought dat it might have something to do with my hz but its only at 85 (in windows) and 100hz in cs

Can someone help me out?

(Overdrive, RaZiel maybe :p)

thx in advance

i have the same thing when i copy something from irc, but thats the only place where i get this problem and i have my mouse set to 500 hz. I got this problem when i changed from 125 hz to 500hz
the friction is between the surface and the mouse... That has nothing to do with laggy behavior, unless you move it like "laggy"
I think it's called "jitter"what you have. But of you don't have it ingame, why bother?

The behavior you describe though, reminds me of the mouse @ work (I cannot change mouse properties there) where prolly the high windows speed and "the enhanced pointer precision enabled" are causing the f*ck*d *p behavior.
possible solutions:

*turn off vertical sync at your drivers (catalyst or rivatuner)
*play high fps, 76 is least you need to have a somewhat fast response.
*r_finish "1"
*start>control panel>mouse, turn off 'increased pointer precision'
*dont use direct input aka mf_init unless you have low unstable fps (if you have a crappy pc, its actually very nice to play with as the buffer collects mouseinputs while your fps is lagging. Once you do render a frame all the input is then added to that frame. I only advice this to ppl playing 43 unstable.)
*check the lens of your mice if theres nothing on the lens (preferably with the mouse turned off if you still want to enjoy pr0n when ur 60)
*respons time of your mouse is depend on fps / mouserate
i still believe syncing of fps/mouserate is important, still a stable polling rate is more important then a higher polling rate. 250 gives a very stable polling rate always in between 200 and 250 hz, wheras 500hz and 1000hz will have you playing somewhere in between 200 and 1000hz.
Mf_init.exe

I have 100fps stable so should I not use mf_init?
And about mouse hz I use now 1000hz but would 500hz be better?

Dear Dundy,

Quotedont use direct input aka mf_init unless you have low unstable fps

tnx for wasting 1 minute of my life

why dont you advice mf_init.exe?
i have been playing with mf_init.exe for a while now and i like it pretty much. what's wrong with it?
yes i have stable high fps
Parent
it delays your input, much the same way as vertical sync does. the higher the fps, the fewer the input delay.
Parent
so better turning vsync off ? @100 fps and 100 hz ?
Parent
yes turn it off, but at 100fps/100hz you will get an annoying line on your screen. You will notice it when you play with it a few minutes, its like tearing, its really annoying. It only happens when your fps = display refresh.
Parent
Yeah I noticed it, therefore I put vsync on but I still had that tearing effect. So better put 100 fps and 120hz refreshrate with vsync off ?

Btw I did a test and I have more "friction" when moving my mouse with 125hz (USB) than 500hz and with 125 hz I notice "friction" ingame... but with 500 hz not. But that doesn't mean there is no friction ?

(Tested it in RTCW and cs1.6)
