The coversation between Sokrates and Fajdros is held by the river Illisos. Philosophers met there after Fajdros had heard Lizjasz's speech about Eros. When Fajdros briefed it to Sokrates, he (Sokrates) critisized it. Then, Fajdros demanded to hear a better speech from him. Sokrates exposed two speeches. In first, he focused on critisising Lizjasz, giving arguments which would compromise not only Lizjasz but also the subject of Lizjasz's speech - Eros. That's why he made the second speech, in which he didn't talk about Lizjasz anymore, but he focused on belauding Eros. Thats why Sokrates's opinion regarding love may seem not to be consistent. As right, we should accept only this, which is included in the second speech.
