but you can force it with rivatuner.
Negative values make like a sharpen effect, so that the game looks more detailed, positive values decrease texture quality but also 2d "things", like your crosshair.
I don't think it's illegal, you need to stay in a decent range.
But you will see, it makes you crosshair pretty blurry before having a nice untextured game :)
And you shouldn't use it, it would make all the guys who take pbss whine.
So i don't think its a good idea, since you can have a pretty untextured game with picmip 3 & simplemipmaps 0.
ps: if you are using standard or stock drivers check if prerendered frames is put at 2. Standard drivers put them at 3 for increased performance, although 2 is better for input and faster reactiontimes. dunno how you can change this feature with ati.
it doesent work wth ati cards right?
download a few configs, most of them have lots of descriptions next to the variables. Afaik its the geometrical detail wheras 0 is default high quality and 2 is highest performance. Afaik it gives you the epileptic textures which aren't rendered properly and 'flash' when moving.
(But playing with AF 16x isn't really smooth.)
you are looking for Temporal Anti Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering.
here the crosshair is hard to see but for me it seems easier to see than on the screenshot, may have to do with resizing i dunno. but i like it !
