problem with sound or grafic?

just turn it off, but still, its an indication that there is something going wrong :), too hot or something.

edit: I think though if you turn it off your pc will just crash instead of giving an error, dunno though havent had it in years.

Well its not the sound problems :P Its just your PC freezes.
Graphic card cant get any data and it gives you vpc recovery.
I have this problem everytime they update the punkbuster. Evertyhing freezes, comes sound loop and after that you cant do nothing, but to press restart button.
I have Nvidia graphic card so I dont get vpc ecovery insted I just need to restart computer.

Try update your pb or trye to remove one memory stick, if you have 2 of them.

It's your gfx card, my X1900 kept doing it and eventually died. I'd start looking into a replacement, not to scare you or anything. Could just be running too hot, but I would think you would see some artifacting. Though it could ALSO be drivers. So many possibilities, I'd look into overheating and drivers first. VPU recover occurs when something on your card is going wrong (voltages too low, clocks too low, etc), and then pretty much "restarts" the card. I'd leave it on, if it's happening, something is obviously wrong.
