Sound problem, helpage plx

I'm posting on behalf of a friend.

"AoNo: I have installed windows media player 11
AoNo: and now (whether its related i dont know)
AoNo: i cant hear any 'foreground sound'
AoNo: i can hear explosions, other peoples firing etc
AoNo: but not my own, nor my hitsounds, nor any vsays."

Cvar_restart didn't work, nor did execcing perfo's sound settings.

Any recommendations?

And direct Perfo to this journal if possible.

hai guys
at first iwould say, uninstall the WMP
you wont need it for anything :D
then if that doesnt work, system restore

Aono was moaning about this not 10 mins ago on Demo Centre... I take it it's not fixed yet then ;D
