Based isn't the correct word to use if you're suggesting that the themes of Star Wars could be paralleled to events which were going on at the time of it's writing. Although the whole good versus evil theme is everywhere, all the time.

I agree that its a universal theme, all im saying is that it might aswell be based on/parralleled with a true story, unless any of us has information that excludes that, it remains a possibility.

To say Star Wars is based on a true story is ridiculous.

To say the themes of Star Wars (not the story itself) are based on true events is not ridiculous. It's very possible.

EDIT: As soon as I posted this and saw what I'm actually ARGUING about, I laughed out loud. :-\
