no it wont
are you sure? will it only slow down the stuff that is really on the IDE disk? or what :D

windows is on your sata disk and IDE just used for storing files. Accessing the files on the IDE drive will be slower but your typical performance should remain exactly the same since windows and most of your files are located on the SATA drive

ok I just wasn't quite sure, if it would ignore the sata speed and just ran at IDE speed, but if that isn't the case I'm alright :p

it will take more time to copy from 1 hdd to another compared to 2 sata but no, it won't
It will slowdown only thouse programs that are installed on IDE drive.
But Windows will work as fast as usually because its on SATA drive.

Thats why in future we will see Windows installet on 10gb flash memory card and it will boot in just few secodns, but every movie, mp3 and file will be on "mass" storage device aka HDD.
thank you very much :>

Windows... fast?

but what if I have my os on IDE drive and rest on SATA drive?

cause since this morning thats the case in my pc xD
Well then your Windows will use IDE buss and not sata. As you know sata is faster then IDE. IDE = 100mb/sec and SATA1 = 150mb/sec and SATA2 = 300mb/sec. But its very hard to compare the HDD speeds to each others. But I think if you have Windows on IDE it is little slower then SATA in copying files etc.
That really doesn't matter much, since transfer rates are about 90 MB/s for some of the newest drives.

And no, it's not hard to compare. you could look it up here

it depends what files u want to use there.
