How many press ups can you do!

You can try right now, any style you like! Diamond, wide arm, normal, just do as many as you can in one set! I consider xfire to be filled with average guys, average guys who happen to play games, but average guys none the less: I want to know how many press ups guys can do, on average. Exrx tells me 40 - 45 is average, I think that's a little too high, and other internet threads have yielded much cock brandishing which does nothing to sooth my quest for knowledge.
To perform a correct pushup you must:
Keep your back straight! Straight! You're arse should not elevate periodically to accommodate the build up of lactic acid in your muscles - This is the number 1 thing people do wrong when they do press ups.
Your nose must touch the floor! When you come down on your rep, your nose must hit the floor, your must touch and caress the floor with your snot ridden appendage, it must happen - If it doesn't, the press up doesn't count!
I expect you all to not care about this, but it'd be nice if people who don't workout or do any kind of exercise beyond walking would contribute - Those are the numbers I care about. Just to give you some roundabout figures: A few weeks back my brother could only do about 9 press ups, after about 2 weeks of boxing he's up to 16; a rugby player in my school, he's a bit overweight and most of his power is in his legs, could only do 16; the army requires soldiers to do at least 30 press ups consecutively .
Anyway, I'm bored, regail me with your athletic exploits! Also, if you're really good at any particular exercise, whatever it is, let us know, and let us know how you trained to get that good. Masturbation, sadly, is not an exercise =o(.

although i remember another one where this japanese guy did it and there was a video :)
What did you study/What do you study? :p
I run as often as I can, whenever I'm going somewhere I tend to run instead of walk =oD: running with your hood up at 3am isn't the best of ideas though, police tend to wonder what you're doing. Just out of interest, when you run, do you jog or run?
My friend who's been going for about a year comes over on the weekend and we spar in my garden, we go easy on each other though - Left hooks are rare, rights are nerfed, jabs are full force though; I'm trying to work on coming inside behind the jab right now, get some explosive movement.
when i got moved up from the begginer group to the competition group at my kickboxing club i was 13 years old, the youngest one besides me was 17:p so i got pretty beaten up even though they went pretty easy on me. i did place 2nd on my first competition though and 1st on my second one. sparring against better people will do you better than if you spar vs people who's worse than you.
don't know why i wrote this :p
+ 300 sit-ups (I had 243) 8.5/10
+ 20 times pull-ups (you have to pull your chin above a iron bar when you are hanging on the iron bar with your both arms :D or do it one time with only one arm). 10/10
But i'm most sportif guy in my class so I wouldn't say i'm average.
You should be able to do plenty with those stupidly unproportional biceps.
At boxing we focus mainly on the shoulders and triceps, so now my shoulders have grown a bit along with my arms: the downside, as I found out when I went clothes shopping, is that t-shirts tend to be loose on chest, but tight on the arms =o/. Biceps don't really help when you're doing push ups, it's also endurance so size doesn't matter at all - There's probably plenty of bodybuilders who would struggle to do 20.
cu tomorow.
gn
anyways I go to gym 3-4 times a week :)
I might be able to crank up to ~70 reps on a good day, but to be honest, the lactic acid buildup in longer sets is too much for me to handle... And I have always been a bad bencher anyway, my 1RM is 125 kilos.
On the squat side I have been slightly better, my 1RM raw squat is 172,5 kg and front squat 135 kg. After I dislocated the si-joint in my back I've been training more like a fitness-geek, doing Crossfit training and such.
Recently I discovered kettlebell lifting, been trying to get the hang of it for the last month or so.
The only downside I can think of is the ease of inflicting injuries to oneself, when training with the ball. Non-centralized forces rotating arms and shoulders really suck. Luckily, such errors don't often happen, but when they do, you're probably already tired...
Oh, and I weigh around 88 kilos.
What I meant by overhyped is that, although the shape of the kettle bell is unique, you can do pretty much every exercise with a dumbell, you don't actually need a kettlebell to do kettlebell exercises. I think the simplicity of it is what attracts most people: no need to bother with spinlocks, just pick up and go.
Recently I've been thinking about starting MMA. Been sparring boxing somewhat etc. Without any previous experience it'll be really difficult though, but I guess I'll start it this summer. :)
