TV-Out and subtitles

So, I have an issue. I'm trying to watch some films and stuff from my computer to my TV using TV-Out. However, I have some problems.

I have an ATI Radeon 9800 pro and I use the ATI Catalyst Control Center to setup my TV-Out stuff.

The thing is... I can use two different modes.

* Extend main onto TV
or
* Clone Main with TV

When I chose Clone Main with TV and try to run movies, I get a black (or green with some players) screen, so so far this is a no go.

When I chose Extend Main onto TV I can only watch movies with VLC and Windows Media Player classic so far, and then I have to drag them outside my monitor and use full screen.

However, with those two players my subtitles don't work. I use .srt subs for the stuff I'm going to watch and they only show very rarely. It's the right subs too, so that's not the problem.

My subtitles only work with mplayer (not Windows Media Player, it's called mplayer), but with mplayer it doesn't work to drag the player outside my monitor.

My computer is in another room than my TV, so I can't use Swap Displays, cause then I can't use my mousepointer.

So I'm asking for help. Either you can help me fix so that I can see my subtitles with all players, or you help me so I can watch movies with mplayer on my TV-Out.

Thanks a lot :>

Edit: If it's of any use, I use S-Video.

u use vobsub plugin for subtitles ?
Parent
I... Don't know. I don't think I use any plugin. How can I check that?
Parent
- download vobsub

and install it.
and play your movie with mediaplayer

(your .srt file need to have thesame name as the movie and in thesame folder)

Thanks mate, this helped. Also worked with Windows Media Player Classic.

for your 2nd problem try to add "-vo directx:noaccel" at the option field in mplayer

I burned my tvout :[ now i am sad
Cloning should work, at least it did when I used it to watch movies on TV.
Checked overlay settings?
If you use BSplayer, you can, under subtitles-setting, set "Draw subtitles to Overlay" - that works... dno in other players
goat, if you use clone mode, you have to use the TV as your primary display, then it'll work fine on TV.
