And yeah, this is the best serie ever ^^
Im off, watching episode 5 of season 2 (im slow, kthx)
The last episode of Battlestar Galactica, however, left me numb. How the fuck can a season end like that, with a YEAR to go until the next season?! AARGH!
I feel violated.
BSG first season was amazing, then they made some really crappy episodes in the second season tbh, but the last two and some other made it all good. Last episode was teh nice :P
Like when the young assasin got caught midway through the second season, and was begging for mercy in the alley, I was half hoping they'd release him, half wanting him to get what was coming to him. And in the next moment he had a blade in his chest and the body was dropped to a sewer, while the killers were cleaning up their blades and talking about going home to their wives, as if nothing out of the ordinary just happened.
Also, I found the problems the characters faced almost identical to today's common situations in life: love, hate, death, pride, honor, sexuality, money, purpose in life... 2000 years later, and we're still struggling with the same issues as the characters in the show.
On BSG... I don't really know why I liked it so much, that I feel empty inside after it ended. I don't even like science fiction in general, haven't ever followed Babylon 5, Star Trek or other traditional scifi-shows. But BSG just sucked me in from the first season. Probably the same angles got me worked up in Rome: how to deal with everyday life, when conditions are harsh and the rules of the society vague. What drives us to do the things we do?
Of course BSG had other nice angles as well, a good plot and interesting character development on the way. And a pretty unique approach on technology, even if it's totally unbelievable.
Indeed, aren't those the themes of any great story, on you could actually connect with no matter who you are?
What BSG and many of the better American video shows have in common, is that they actually develop the characters. I don't get how people could actually watch series where Mcguyver or any other hero stays the same person over and over and over again.
I hate most American movies, their series are much better. Its like when you go see a movie: you only pay once. After a big media hype everybody pays only to find out it was a crappy movie. With series you can actually choose if you want to keep on watching.
Anyway, most movies are way to long . Episodes come in 40 minutes, making them much more easily to watch. I do enjoy watching a good movie, but I challenge you to find 1 good movie every week :P
Anyway, BSG is a great series. Some episodes really excel in their use of music and maybe playing the emo tricks. Some of their characters really stand out, like commander Adama or the lawyer in the last two episodes. The camera work, the music, the storyline, the 'bigger' questions. I could go on and on about BSG, too bad they made some pretty bad episodes after their almost perferct first season.
First season was one big thrill. Who is the cylon? What is happening on caprica. And you do get answers (fuck you Lost, took you 3 seasons to come up for an answer for that polar bear in the first episode)
Well, long discussion short
TV series > average movie
.
And it wasn't really shocking either. But I enquire what exactly you found so shocking about it?
SPOILER DONT READ BENEATH IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW HOW IT END!
Pulo just went to Caesar, told him the kid and Vorenus are death and gets a reward. Then he tells the kid he is his real father.
So, no text at all with me bro. And I honestly don't see about what they should make a 3rd season. What possible could be interesting enough to make another season and include the remaining main characters of the first 2 seasons?
