XP doesen't recognize my SATA-II disk!

helo ??//
I've got some Seagate SATA-II disk and i'm having problems.

Linux was installed on it, but since WinXP installer is stupid, it doesen't recognize hard disks in case there is a linux partition on it. So I installed vista to try it (which recognized it), but I don't like it and I wanna move back to my old debian+WinXP system, but now when there aren't any linux partitions on it, it still doesen't recognize it!

Note: Vista installer does recognize it and so do some linux-distro installers, but XP is a bitch!

you can install the sata drivers when "pre-installing" windows, says hit F3 to install sata or smth (guess u no that already)
or if u have another ide hdd mayb install windows on that then install the sata hdd from that ;o
format C:
Linux > Windows. :)
What Version of XP? I had this problem with Home Edition, worked fine with professionell tho.

Just a thought: S-ATAII is newer than XP, so how would be able to recognise it anyway?
Buggy OS!
I already had linux+xp system on this HDD! It DID recognize it in the past, but not anymore. And yes, i used the same installation CD as before (WinXP pro with all updates until some month this year).

Maybe Linux wrote shit into the MBR and XP doesn't like that?

it depends of the version of the windows installation CD.
If you have a CD with a pre Service Pack 2 version, you will have to install a driver for your HDD during installation
o_o
i thought it already had the drivers since it's newer :p
will try installing it tommorow.

you can also make a windows boot disc with sp2 on it. your hd will be recognized then also fixes the prob of xp not recognizing hds over 120gb. http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/winxp-sp2-bootcd.html

Copy sata drivers to a floppy and press F6 when it asks if you have to specify additional scsi devices or something.
Uninstall linux? :D
Insert floppy copy your sata drivers on it

Press f6 @ when you enter windows installation after boot

>< helped me out few times

or just get an SP2 Slipstreamed maybe then u wont need to make an floppy.
F6 during installation is your friend
u need to have a diskette drive, at the beginning of ur install, in ur boot screen, press f8 as much as possible so u come into the diskettte drive where u have to install ur sata drivers before continuing ur xp install
rip your windows cd to an iso file and then add your sata drivers using nlite http://www.nliteos.com/
nothing to do with linux, as everyone has said press F6 during install and insert the floppy disk with your motherboard sata drivers on
maybe not in this case, but i know for sure that windows XP installer is having some problems with linux partitions

i had them even with an old harddisk on my old computer. linux installed -> windows installer either doesen't recognize hdd or doesen't start at all
