Morning guys! It's Sunday morning here on Enschede, and Crossfire Prizefight 2 is about to hit it's third day. Impact and one.Soldier are setting up their PCs. The funny thing is, that there are no admins around... Oh well, I guess they had a late night yesterday (updat: TosspoT just arrived, not looking very fresh).
Now, I have to tell you, a lot of players here are saying this has been the best LAN ever. And I agree! The atmosphere here is just superb: friendly and competitive at the same time. Players cheering for good performances, TosspoT doing a great job with the shoutcasts, beer flowing. It's just electric. And imagine this: all the computers are set up around a square-shaped bar, so where ever you are on the LAN-area, the nearest bar is like couple meters away. Works for me.
Gaming-wise this LAN has been interesting. ZeroPoint dropping out on the group stage. Vicious and Evil beating polar in the losers bracket. ALIS snatching one point in the group stage, ending up on 12th position -- who would've thought.
The results are one thing, but there's a lot more going on behind the scenes, what you guys at home can't see. People taking pictures of Mystic's config. Tiigeri playing in his boxers against Dignitas, LOL! (It's actually really HOT inside the LAN area, like 37 degrees or something) Galahad and Ronner arguing about whether or not blowing up nuclear bombs is going to push the earth off from it's orbit (it won't, if you blow up another one on the other side! -Galahad). Kuraigu, who looks pretty intimidating, punking everyone when they first meet -- especially M1lk, who looked like he was scared shitless for a second. Just all kinds of crazy little things happening. Fun.
Aside from gaming, the nightlife has been fun. As I told you in my previous journal, Impact took over Bermen (not _b1!) on Wednesday: on Thursday we went out on Enschede. Our apartment is located about 10 kilometers away from Enschede in a really nice four star spa. The bad thing is, that taxi drivers are crazy in here: they were driving like 120 km/h when it was pitch black outside on really narrow roads! The taxi me and Xpaz shared almost crashed into another cab, I nearly shat myself.
The clubs were your average ones pretty much. In one of them you had to buy some plastic coins and pay with them for your drinks. Coins are called "munters" or something in Dutch, and I remember thinking, that hell -- this place is damn expensive, 20 euros for 10 minutes. So I bought like half an hour worth of "time", got 30 coins, and each was worth one beer. Talk about being wasted. Luckily I've had my undercover video camera with me all the time, I've gathered like 8 GB of pictures and videos. Tekoa showing of his dancemoves will be on YouTube for sure...
Anyway, Impact and one.Soldier just started playing. Gonna watch the game and cheer for the guys. I'll write more when I have the time. Expect some pictures when I get home!
Cheers,
- Gaso
