Recently I got the DeathAdder as a replacement for my Diamondback. My main hopes for it were to provide a better scrollwheel (this one really sucks on the Diamondback) and a slightly more optimised shape for my right hand.
Positive:
+ The scroll wheel button is just perfect. It scrolls far more easily than on the DB, has much better grip and is further to the back, so it's easier to use. Both pressing and scrolling the wheel is no problem and very direct. Very pleased.
+ The thumb buttons are far nicer all around.
+ The shape is just right for me. I've heard people complain that it's smaller than the standard MS IE shape, but for me it shouldn't be any larger. The ergnomic shape is nice but doesn't force me to hold the mouse in a less efficient way (unlike newer Logitech designs).
+ It has all the typical Razer advantages, most important for me are the extremely sensitive and large buttons. It's also very lightweight.
+ It looks just gorgeous and the rubber coating feels wonderful.
+ Possibly the best sensor on the market right now, especially for low sensers.
+ It came with latest firmware pre-installed and I had no issues whatsoever with acceleration or lift-off distance.
Negative:
- It doesn't glide as smoothly as the Diamondback. I can't say whether this problem is still caused by the body or by the feet, since the feet on mine weren't properly attached (I had to correct manually). It doesn't bother me since it's still smooth on my cloth pad, but I'll probably get the hyperglides at some point.
- Mouse wheel doesn't scroll well while second mouse button is pressed down. This is not an issue for me since I rarely use these functions together, but you should be aware of it.
- The shape lacks any kind of support to pull it up, so I have to put pressure on its slick lower sides with my fingers. This is not a problem but not as convenient as the rubber rails on the Diamondback.
All in all I'm very pleased and it probably gets as close to my ideal mouse as anything right now. I would recommend it to everyone who thinks that the Logitech shapes aren't really suitable for gaming and who wants a relatively small, efficient, but still comfortable gaming mouse.
