what are your favorite aspects of mmorpg games, and single player rpg/adventure games ? Or infact just give examples of games which you have enjoyed in these genres and why
My favorite mmorpg's:
WoW
Silkroad
Kal-Online
My favorite singleplayer rpg's:
Morrowind
Diablo II
Fable (not rly rpg, but meh)
The pokemon series (oldskool ftw)
My favorite adventures:
The Longest Journey
The Longest Journey: Dreamfall
The 7th Guest
havent played it online with ppl i didnt know. "only" with some friends, but that quite often.
+ skill, level upgrades (especially when gaining new abilities) is fun
+ different items to "create" your player
+ quite good random stuff
- often takes A LOT of time (you cant play 1h and then leave, you have to complete the quest, or do it completely again next time you try)
- becomes boring when you finished all quests (i dont like senseless running (farming?))
I like all kind of rpg, but i have to admit the one who totaly smashed me was Final fantasy 7 on ps1 back then like 10 years ago.
i also like diablo and such hack n slash games, and the best i ever played on computer was BALDUR'S GATE 2 (totaly awesome).
I played wow and guild wars, but i feel kinda lost in those games, i like being taken by the hand and i dont mind an rpg scripted like hell.that must be the reason why i am not a huge fan of oblivion even if i play it from time to time.
Now i am gonna start zelda on my wii :)
Then there come Diablo 2, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Baldur's Gate 2, Icewind Dale and STALKER.
Non-RPGs? Probably Q3 and RtCW. Ah, and Medieval: Total War.
I don't play MMORPGs, just tried GW and was quite cool; it's said that LOTR Online outshines WoW and every other MMO, so during the summer time I'll probably go for this one.
Enclave sucks hard, btw.
But it's different as far as MMOGs (online games) in general or MMOFPS (online first person shooter) specifically are concerned. What I like most is when there's some sort of strategic thinking needed in order compete and beat some human counterpart online. Another important thing for me playing online games was always the social aspect of meeting other people, talking to them and/or competing against them which is by far more challenging than simply playing vs. an AI.
btw I once wrote an essay for markovits (who has some quite nice theories about sports in general that can be adapted easily for electronic sports; also interesting in this regard is allen guttman & van botenburg [wrong spelling?] both columbia uni. press i think) about professional online gaming, differences between prof. esports and and real sports, potentials and hurdles to take in order to diffuse... stuff like that. if you are interested drop me a line.
The more social elements of MMOs also add to the enjoyment as the game relies on a certain level of user interaction which can add to the experience
am really looking forward to The Age Of Conan as it's apparently implementing a new battle system that is more based on user movement and key combos, etc. and focusing on interaction between players with regards to things like trades.
-Day of the tentacle.
-monkey island.
-full throttle
just cus they are fun.
conkers bad fur day on n64 <3
Played some (mmo)rpgs aswell... a very nice rpg game on the ps2 is: dark cloud (also dark chronicle) played FFx aswell but it was too long imo.. Rose online, sro, anarchy online are also nice but they wont keep you playing long as world of warcraft does...
gl :)
