Why don't you use programs that would recover such documents?
Spin rite? by the guys who done Security now is supposed to be the best around.

I've only just visited Crossfire after being inactive for a while, but yeah, if you need to recover files I'd recommend Spinrite

Hope it works for you [there's plenty of cracked ones around if you don't want to pay]

why you don't backup your important files? burn the whole et-folder on disk and you will have no problems....
