I've a problem with my Ventrilo 2.1.3 and my 1mb/512b Internet connection.
My ping gets to the 7th heaven when I push the push-to-talk hotkey. It's very weird and I think 512 for upload should be enough for that. And the ventrilo settings are almost default.
Does anyone know the solution?

try lowering maxpackets
push to talk sucks. get low mic-sensitivity and problem is solved
A lower vent-codec might help.
