The Norwegian Constitution Day is the National Day of Norway and is an official national holiday each year. Among Norwegians, the day is referred to simply as søttende mai (meaning May Seventeenth), the National Day or the Constitution Day.
The 17th of May is an important day in Norway. This is the day when Norwegians celebrate their Constitution Day in a spectacular nationwide party. Key words are children’s' parades, brass bands, whistle blowing, flag waving, singing, eating ice cream and hot dogs and generally enjoying spring and each others company.
