hello and welcome to some exiting blah!
my new mouse arrived today, the Logitech G5 2007 Refresh.
my first impression when i unpacked it was like "whee this looks elegant",
the extra etui for the weights and the magazine which you slide into the
bottom of the mouse. all cool and nice. the surface is abit weird, though.
the surface of the mouse has a sort of grip, like anti-slide / anti-sweat system.
it feels ok with the hand, but it feels nasty when touching it with my thump :P
(when using BOTH thump buttons)
so ok. i've then thought "hmm, setpoint is installed, winxp should do the trick by itself". NOT .. so i had to tell windows where the driver files are and installed everything by hand. and look there, setpoint software works flawlessly for both mice, mx518 and g5. the settings for the g5 are amazing, really!.
so much stuff you can set, but i won't list it here. check that for yourself :)
anyways, i used 800dpi because it felt like my mx518. went to a server and tried it and well, i was fuQn surprised why the mouse was doing 360 turns allthough the speed felt like my mx518. disconnected, checked the settigns and guess what, the shit mouse accel was set to low. so i turned that off and suddenly the mouse was freakin slow. that made me set the dpi to 2000 and then it felt ok. so tried again,
went to the server and ...
.. WOW ... this mouse feels great!

and well, i will keep my mx518 plugged in :) ..
i dislike G5 Old because of only one thump button
mx518 = optical
mx518 > G5
laser sucks for fast tracking and the liftoffdistance sucks: your crosshair shakes and moves when you lift the mouse. Seeing both have the same shape and I'd go for the mx518. Also heard complaints from ppl saying the big G5 feet suck to put new glidz on. The feet are just so large and glidz dont stick to the original teflon feet :/
Good to hear they added another thumb button :P
But g5€ > mx€ :<
mx518 > G5
Most expensive doesnt mean its better

hf!
newest = bestest 11111
I know, but you are such a noob aimer. Must have something to do with the laser111
there's such things as 'best mice' looking at it performance wise, but sticking to your old setup > new stuff
<< mx518 <3
G5 AND MX518 :) ..
and yeah, the liftoffdistance pisses me off, aswell..
