BIG PC PROBLEM!!

Hi good crossfire readers.

I really need your help.

The last 2 days, ive had major problems with my computer. When i am playing a few games like "Infernal " and "Medieval II : Total war", my computer crashes..

I can play other games like ET, Tiger Woods, Command and conquer etc without any problems.

But the crash is really strange, and ive actually had it earlier, but cant remember what i did to make it better..

Its allways after i played a little bit, sometimes after 5-6 minutes, sometimes after 20-30 minutes.

This is what happends:

First my screen goes black. At the same time, the sound lags like hell...
Then after about 10 seconds, a msg shows on the screen saying: Going to OFF mode.

While this is happening, my computer is working like hell.. its like its running the biggest shit ever.. making alot of noice and everything on 100%..

But nothing happends.. i cant get the screen on again, i cant do anything, so i just gotta shut it down and restart by using the button on the PC..

This is really annoying, and i dunno why.

btw, ive tried to install updates for my graphic card.. it didnt help.

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!..

Welcome to my life :P Check your video card cooler. Disconnect the power chord, turn of cpu. Open computer case and remove your video card. Remove all the dust from the cooler with an earstick + vacuum cleaner. Mine had a cushion of dirt around the cooller and there was no air beeing sucked in :/
my comp is like totaly new.. allmost.. cant understand it can be that filthy allready...

After you crashed: alt + enter, see if you screen comes back. If your vid card crashed changing the vid resolution usually still works, at least I can just keep on playing by alt+enter and alt+enter back to fullscreen.

Also could check out your mobo and cpu temperature after it crashed. Go into bios and look for the tab showing you your cpu temperature.

As some ppl already stated could also be fucked up ram, try memtest +86. Make a memtest bootdisk and test your ram.

In bios, try to reset to default factory settings, I usually turn off all onboard devices I dont need: onboard sound, raid, firewire, serial ports, parallel ports, silicon image mode, etc etc. Just make sure you dont turn of MAC interface = onboard LAN.

i would love to let u know how i fixed it:> But the thing is, all what u just told me.. I cant do that=)

I need someone to help me with it, if not im sure ill fuck up stuff.. i dont even know how to perform all those tests=)

But one thing i did.. i took the sidepanel of my tower to get more air into it, and that helped abit atleast. Medieval didnt crash at all.

Infernal crashed, but only after i had played medieval for like 3-4 hours, so maybe it got abit overheated.

but i wouldnt be shocked if there was some problems with my motherboard or something else.

If u can play ET, then i cant see a problem.
Get some coolers / water cooling
Who cares as long as ET's working!
your PC overheating
your pc is too hot.. check your coolers and clean then.. then your pc performance are ways better
do you overclocked the pc ?
Good for you, keep it like that.
