catalyst 7.5 fucking up...

anyone tried the new catalyst 7.5 installer that was released today?

I normally fully uninstall > reboot > start installer > reboot > enjoy

but today I missed the first manual uninstallation step and let the 7.5 installer uninstall any old drivers for me, it did that okay then rebooted but then XP sp2 just went into a loop and kept restarting not actually reaching the desktop

so I launch into safe mode, uninstall 7.5, restart pc

then confronted with 4bit graphics and 480 x 640 resolution which I couldn't change.

I've just installed 7.5 again, restarted and now the catalyst control centre crashes and errors when ever I try and launch it...

what a piece of shit

by the wizzle, I'm not actually looking for advise, I'm simply wondering if anyone else has had problems or not ;x

Run drivercleaner

then reinstall

Remove all ATi Catalyst files manually and then run: http://www.worldstart.com/weekly-download/archives/reg-cleaner4.3.htm to clean your registery and then install ATi Catalysy Center again.

omega driver for tweaking or do they actually improve the card without doing anything else like heating it up?

7.5 gives my 1950 up to "15% improvements in quake 4 and doom 3" :x

I used to use omega drivers but he rarely updates it anymore

The purpose of the Omega Drivers is to provide gamers with an alternate set of drivers, ones that have more options and features than the original sets. The drivers contain optimizations, extra features (like OC capabilities), more resolutions and internal tweaks that can give them the edge in a gaming environment over the normal drivers, which are often tailored for synthetic benchmarks. All Omega driver sets are tested (unless noted).

Not really detaillevel (lodbias is changeable -10 to +10 but it works not for ET only for Desktop.Unless u have not a coolermonitor or something I wouldn´t overclock the card

Im on a laptop so overclocking is the last thing on my mind :D. Just wanted to know if this improved performance in some way exept overclocking

U can change Direct 3D and OpenGl settings (mipmap,vsync,z-Buffer deph,texture and refreshrate) and many more.

Yes it does for me,don´t lower mipmap to much,this will make ur crosshair blurry

I use Catalyst 7.2 as I don't get fullscreen playback on my tv when watching movies etc with the later versions.

Ati sucks. Get nvidia. I only got Ati on my laptop, because it's integrated in the mainboard wich I can't move :[. I'm using older ATI drivers, because the newest fails to display on a normal resolution and my screen goes off when I open some heavy program ;[

Catalyst Control Center is a bitch anyways, I still prefer Omega drivers.
