torrents are a protocol, a lot of OpenSource software/games use it as a method of distribution, it just happens to also be used by pirates!

Encryption -> Enabled/Forced, allow incoming legacy connections

A port in the 50000-60000 range, forwarded by your router

Max upload speed 90% of the download speed, eg 50kbps max upload, limit it at 45kbps.

I use max 500 connections, 80 per torrent, probably rather overkill really.
