apt-get... stuipid debian portage tree

since i'm still working on this Q4TV stuff, i was wondering myself how can i search for a package with this 'apt-get' crap perl script or whatever it is.

for my self i hate debian! gentoo has such a beautiful package-tree (called portage).

i'm looking for this lib: libstdc++

apt-get install aptitude :P
aptitude is much more powerful than apt.
after install: aptitude search blah ;)
don't know if aptitude imports the apt source list by itself.

debian is by far the worst distory ever :(
tried it once wanted to fucking finger my eye out...

apt-get hell is even worse than the portage hell they did with make.profiles

but nvm gentoo ftw :D

well actually the fact that every little shit needs to be compiled is the most time-consuming factor

I still have one gentoo box tho, but I don't really know why .. probably cauz you have more control over your system.

gentoo portage is teh ueber nice! and debian apt-get stupid piece of software is like shit!

i mean, every dump user can download something precompiled from a server and put it into the right directory, i don't need a script for that!

btw, every "dump" user knows how to download sources and type "make install"

you missed the configure and to compile the src first with make.... then you can run make install...

I usually use apt-cache search, but you can do that with aptitude as well

and btw debian > all
