I was browsing the internet a little and someone mentioned about an interesting and possibly disturbing.
I dug a little into and found this in the EULA of ET:QW.
ET:QW incorporates technology of Massive Incorporated ("Massive") that enables certain in-game objects (e.g. advertising) to be temporarily uploaded to your personal computer or game console and placed in-game while connected online. As part of that process, no personally identifiable information about you is collected and only select non-personally identifiable information is temporarily logged. No logged information is used to determine any personally identifiable information about you. For additional details see Massive's privacy policy at http://www.massiveincorporated.com/privacy.htm
It refers to a company that puts in-game ads into video games and tracks a few certains things about gamers. The duration we play, what ads we watch, what we play and our ip adresses are tracked, meaning at least geographical information.
I guess this is the new world...

Add these entries to your hosts file, located in windows/system32/drivers/etc:
127.0.0.1 madserver.net
127.0.0.1 ad.madserver.net
127.0.0.1 imp.madserver.net
127.0.0.1 media.madserver.net
And yes maybe the current technology will not allow it but you never know what there will be next.
Anyone who thinks this is bad is just plain silly.
a) the ads are of no benefit to me? (f.e. cheaper games, revenue for server admins, ...)
b) the ads are an attack on my privacy?
c) the EULA isn't legal in Germany anyway?
You decide.
b) You are kidding me right? An attack on your privacy?
c) EULA's are legally binding, even in Germany. (read - http://www.esreality.com/?a=post&id=1392010 )
b) What information will they collect in the future? Would you notice?
c) Yes, we've had that already. And the answer is: who clicked "I agree"? Did I? Was it a friend of mine, a relative? They can't proove I did.
