hi di how,
I'm a bit bored so I thought of writing something down here at xfire.I just want to evaluate ET:QW after 1 day of playing. Yesterday my colleague was so nice to give me a beta key for ET:QW (Petri<3). I was delighted cause i couldn't get one on Friday nor the previous giveaways. I heard so many good and bad things about the game but i never prejudice a game until I play it. So now, a good 24 hours later, i must say ... it's just shit (this is my personal opinion).
Installation went smooth and I created a useraccount and a clanmember invited me for the uberhighskilled waco ETQW clan. We consist already out of 6 playing members but believe it or not... only 1 rly likes the game. Is it because we are almost all old RTCW players and we're used to play a fluent game like Quake/RTCW/ET based on the great Quake engine? I don't know but at least I expected some better action. I played as GDF medic and I was able to make 3 kills instantly before i was killed by some flying object which was throwing glowing nades on me all the time. When i ran out of ammo i was doomed because my handgun was not helping either (do they have any hitboxes?). As medic I only got limited ammo and I only got some nades and a futuristic Counterstrike knife not able to do anything. Anyway, i was happy with the first 3 kills. I discovered the zoom option on the gun and went laming. Hiding somewhere and waiting till someone got a good fight and then steal the frag from him (what i mostly do in ET). And there's where i discovered how fucked up hitboxes rly are in QW. Indeed QW and maybe you better call it Wars because the game does not deserve any of the previous made games in its name. After going through all the different classes I ended up by playing covert ops. He got a few nice gadgets to make the lives of others miserable. I enjoyed the flying thing able to explode when you hit someone and the medic to ammo & ammo to medic converting option when I was playing strogggg.
Ingame sounds, oh my... I'm sure the makers of those sounds had a pleasant and entertaining job and that results in some fucking spammy 'grenade' 'grenade' 'grenade' 'grenade' sounds whenever one of you teammates throws a nade. Or those funny jokes whenever someone wins or loose the map. My mouse felt tooo smooth and i couldn't find an option to get a normal feeling. I changed some m_pitch, sens values and even tried to make it somewhat the same as I use in any other game but failed because imo it's just not possible. I was not expecting to be pro in it after some hours but at least i was hoping to get some feeling in my aim. Hitboxes weren't helping at all because i had to shoot some cm in front of a flying object or running guy before i could notice i was rly hitting him. I still don't get it how i managed to kill 3 guys in the first place. I turned of my PC and felt sorry for the begging i did to gather a key. I went out to go eat some steak & french fries including some nice peppersauce (bit offtopic but nevertheless I enjoyed it). When i got back we played some RTCW demo (easy bashing on beach) & 3 W:ET wars on a row and I must say... Nothing feels better then playing on a Q3 engine with a game which was made by a community. If you want to make ET:QW any competitive and popular under the RTcw/ET players, they have a lot of work to do because after 4 years of development i'm just disappointed with a game called 'ENEMY TERRITORY QUAKE WARS', a game you only can play decently on some new gamesystem and stole everything except the good things from other games :(

QW RULEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ
patch next week..
new hitboxes + less spread = pro game :)
*edit : the sounds are totally fucked up ...
and like sol said "They've only had 4 years to get it right, I have al the confidince in the world they'll perfect it in the next 1 to 2 months"
Just give the game a second chance. Have some fun with the vehicles, do crazy stuff. I had some games where I drove my beloved Hogg inside the sewers totaly raping the opponents. Using the hogg as a shield, and a mobile mg I could hold off 4-5 guys. Also had my uberpwnage grenade launcher as backup incase the hogg overheated :P Could also drive over ppl, but its not that easy as shooting them down with the mg :P
The game is fucking complicated, but this also allows for the most crazy things to do. The physics along with the endless posibilities of positioning guns and using vehicles makes it a perfect public game. This also kills it as a competetive game imho.
http://www.crossfire.nu/?x=news&mode=item&id=1625 hopefully this patch will help, but yes it's something they should've got right from the outset.
I also hate all the vehicles except the quad bikes and the Icarus, but the Icarus should be for fast transportation only and needs it's weapons removed so its on par with the quad.
It's just an opinion, so not rly deserving a sticky.
btw, sticky this journal
i´ll hope (and assume) someone will make a nice promod making it the true successor to ET. i personally have more faith in this game then in RTCW2.
good joke :)
Anyhow, its still years away, at least till then QW will be nice.
