When I installed ETQW, with PB included.. i felt no need to worry. All seemed to work fine, all untill..
Now when playing ET again i noticed really strange lags.. so i opened up my traymonitor and see the program PnkBstrB.exe.. my first thought was "wtf", all the small and big letters made me think it was some kind of malware pretending to be PB, so i shut down the process, but this caused a kick in ET.. my mind flew to the QW-install..
Since i already had a war, i started up ET, and again PnkBstrB.exe ate up 40% of my CPU speed.. i tried to limit its priority, but that only produced errors.. i scaned the web and it seems EB is using me as some sort of a test subject for a new PB version.
The only problem is that i dont want to be a test-subject, i just want to play without lags, so i looked up a forumpost with someone (Kage18E) explaining how to get rid of it ( PunkBusted.com-Forums ), only thing is that it seems this will uninstall PB all together.
So if anyone could tell me how to just get rid of this new malwarebetashit please post a reply :O<

Open the program above and click the "Uninstall" button. This will remove the PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe service.
Some may need to rmove the registry entries.
Go to START --> RUN .. type regedit
search in these parts
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Controlset00X\Sevices look for PnkBstrA PnkBstrB and PnkBstrK .. just right click on the folder listed on the left and delete.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Controlset00X\Services look for PnkBstrA PnkBstrB and PnkBstrK .. just right click on the folder listed on the left and delete.
X = 1,2,3
GL!
Also in C:\windows\system32\drivers is PnkBstrK.sys .. safe to delete.
The new one is a seperate program. So uninstalling the new program shouldn't cause any problems. Well, at least as long as PB doesn't update the PB-ET-client and forces everyone to use the new client.
