Fuckup monitor?

Hi2u

Whenever I wanted to play with a config that has r_mode 8 in it I had this fucked up screen with black corners and I found no way fix this. A couple of days ago I formatted just because my pc was like a slowpoke. So now everything is back to normal. Except for two things:

- 1. Whenever I use weaponbank 3 or 5 for example I have 125 fps, without any problem, because I have these binds in my config that say "bind mouse3 "weaponbank 3;com_maxfps 125". Since I formatted my pc I wanted to see how much fps I could get. So I open my console, hit com_maxfps 0... and my fps wont go any higher than 40 (stable 40 fps, doesnt go any lower or higher). What can be the cause of this?

- 2. My windows has 1024*764 (85 hz). But in ET I want to play on r_mode 8 (1152*864). My question to you is: isn't this bad for you monitor? Can playing on a r_mode higher than your windows resolution or the opposite shorten your life endurance of your monitor?

Thanks in advance.

The answer is: Yes.
- 1: wtf? Installed the right drivers?

- 2: r_mode 8 = 1280*1024 and no it is not a problem if your default desktop reso is different. It will change when you start ET, and restart when you close ET.
So it restarts automaticly? Doesn't it also change your hertz automaticly?

if you use r_displayrefresh 0, ET will adapt to your default desktop Hertz afaik. Yes it will change Hz automatically. So e.g. if you use 85 Hz @ 1024*768 on desktop, but in ET you have r_displayrefresh 100 @ r_mode 4 (just example).. When you start ET your desktop will change to 800*600 @ 100 Hz. When you close, your desktop will be 1024*768 @ 85 Hz again.

Black corners might be solved with r_mapoverbrightbits 3 + r_gamma 2 or higher.

You were on a server where com_maxfps is forced outside the [0,40) interval, so if you try to set it to 0 it gets forced to 40 (the closest allowed value)
True story.

the new clanbase config forces you to have com_maxfps inside the value [40,125] so when you type com_maxfps 0 it automaticly changes it to 40
com_maxfps 999 to test the highest fps. rest is like hades said
