Today I had a letter back saying I got accepted in a course ND IT Practitioners (software development) and I got told by one of them that 'Crosskeys' is the closest I can do it and that I'm lucky to get in on the course because of my grades. According to the website they do the same course in 'Ebbw Vale'* which is just great because of the distance apart.
I'm not really fussed on this course at all because it's not really something I'd like to do (program in excel and do datebase shit) so I found some HND Computing at a University quite close by but I've got no idea how the point scene works there, I'd need UCAS tariff: 80 points with at least 60 points from 6/12 unit GCE/VCE A-level (including a relavent subject or equivalent). Equivalent qualifications are also acceptable.
Does anyone know what those points are about, and how do I add up my GCSE / OCN results to get these?

Crosskeys is 20 miles away
Ebbw vale is just under 5 miles
