weird lags

hey,

sometimes, when i play et, i get these very weird lags. they don't come from the server, rather my own pc. like, a very short huge fps lag.. in the lagometer it's the lower
part which has a part missing.. so it is the client (my pc) ..

i noticed this happens everytime a soundfile gets played ..
i've changed com_soundmegs but it didn't do much..

i doubt that it's my HDD, the game partition is even defragmented..


anyone else has such weird, short lags ? ..

s_mixahead too low? Sometimes I have huge fps lags because of this.

i would say you should delete the whole et folder and get a new, if the problem still exists look for spyware and things like that, close programs in the background which are not needed and at last try other soundcard(enough to take a 5€ noname or smthing)

well deleting the old and creating a new folder (by installing) has almost the same effect as defragmenting the folder.

i've checked for viruses,trojans,spyware .. nothing.

and well, i can't close my firewall, maybe nnscript. that might be a solution, but some stuff i sure need in the background..

my soundcard is a X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS .. i doubt it sucks ;)

I have the same problem, no solution found so far.
A format and an ET reinstall didn't help

haste das auch nur bei et oder auch anderen spielen?..

mir fiel bisher nit auf dass ich es in q3 oder rtcw oder sonstiges hatte, halt nur in et sobald nen announcer sound geladen und ausgegeben worden ist.

I have stable 125 fps, and from one second to another the fps goes down to 30 and my ping goes from 48 to around 30.

maybe some anti-virus program or firewall running in the background that starts doing stuff

Got smth like that either. I suspect it got smth to do with punkbustera or punkbusterb since i got ETQW installed...

A start with windows B is started by A when the game starts.
But if those 2 are not running during the game then i don't know what it could be, could be spyware.

And when the game is running, check what processes are taking CPU.
