also in the netherlands... they stop the car to ask u something... "entschuldigung wo kann ich..." then u talk dutch to m back (its ur country so its quite social to try to ask in dutch first...) then they say.. "ich kann du nicht verstehen, sprechen sie deutsch?" irritates me ;(

While I agree that it's rude to ask in German, you certainly can't expect them to ask in Dutch.

well when iam in italy for example, (cant speak a word) ill try to speak italian to m... it works, but due to my shitty accent they speak english back <3 same in spain just make sure u know the basics: le carte por favor ;o
