Why so few snipers?

Why are decent snipers so rare in ET?
I mean, i was sniping on telenet2 yesterday, and i recieved a lot of cheat0r-whine (which i found amusing, but still). It's not that i did snipe any good, and i haven't really been sniping for more than a couple of hours all in all. So how come? Used correctly you can deal a quite devastating amount of damage with that weapon.

Just crouch and don't run anywhere. You need a wall to hide behind though..

Because there isn't really any maps you can use the snipers with a nice outcome, exept beach and battery. :P

you wont do as much dmg as when you are SMG imo, a skilled smg'er > sniper

If the smg'er gets the first shot the sniper dies easy. and if the sniper gets first shot, he will get a huge recoil, and then the SKILLED smg'er does 3hs on him

Compensating for that recoil isn't too hard. I've won a couple of duels by sniping, but that being said i have lost quite a few as well :P

Actually you shouldn't compensate for the recoil (screenshake) that comes from being shot at, you should just shoot as you normally would. It's a fake recoil and the bullets actually go where they would go even if you weren't shot at.

Thx for letting me now.. I think Pr0mo ment the recoil the sniper gets from firing his rifle, and THAT recoil has to be compensated for.

But my aim gets very random if i get shot at though, you have to be good at predicting if you're going to hit anyone while they are shooting at you. What worse is that you lose your scope if they hit you enough :<

Well I got banned from Netherlands Telenet #2 after a few minutes of sniping.

The only reason why the sniper rifle is underpowered is the fact that medics have megahealth, fops have megaspam and engineers have spam and can do the obj. Snipers can only kill (and destroy CP ofc).
