I read the cdc3 maths journal by pumu, and while it's interesting, I don't think Tosspot is the type to extort money out of players for personal gain. That being said, I do think the prize distrubution is, to the say the least, unfair, and that the ET community as a whole is being taken advantage of:
Prize money per player:
Enemy Territory = 43 # (6200)/(6 * 24 * 50)
Warsow = 62.5 # (1500 / 24)
Quake 3 = 125 # (1000 / 8)
That's -7 euros for every ET player that signs up. What this means is that ET players are subsidising the other games in the tournament, beefing up their prize budget whilst taking a hit from their own pockets: not the best way to treat the people who built this community and sent Tosspots team to quakecon.

+D
I will not treat tosspot as a holy entity, or in a manner in any way different than I would a man on the street (Fusen), simply because he organises a gaming event.
That isn't the point, the point isn't that you're making profit or not, it's that ET players are getting the short end of the preverbial stick with regards to prize money: it's not being divided in a fair way.
CoD is the only reason? So I suppose the fact that this community is built around ET, that there are people who will always attend at ET lan, counts for nothing? CoD is not the only reason ET ever had a lan, I believe the only reason there was a lan in the first place was because Tosspots ET team won a large some of money at quakecon. And remember, if you will indulge your ever so small memory, how that team ended up at quakecon in the first place.
CPC 1 was planned well before Quakecon - and don't make out like you care, as if you're sticking up for ET - you don't. To exaggerate and distort aren't nice traits :)
Replied on one journal, applies to the second
We have a legitimate complaint, you tell us that we should just be grateful that we have anything at all. I suppose you're the type of person who thinks children in Africa should be "grateful" that Bob geldoff hands them a bowl of rice every now and again.
You're signed up?:)
Some people are being way too overly critical, but what sock posted stands... yes there are other costs, but it seems that the ET players are paying for that more than the warsow and cpm players...
Maybe I'm just too tired to work this out but it does seem odd... although I guess ET players aren't the ones who should be whining about something being unfair.
Main Points: we're talking about prizemoney against ticket prices profit here, wht about the huge amount of other costs involved. and at the end of the day, make a loss on each lan and the prizemoney is just going to get smaller. xfire is the main reason et is still alive today.
