the 8800gts will get you decent enough fps in et:qw. depending on your resolution you could either go for the 320mb (anything up to about 1280x1024) or 640mb (anything higher than 1280x1024) version.

however, your fps is not only dependent on your videocard so check if your cpu is powerful enough to get the 8800gts to it's max

During boot you can see what cpu you have in your pc (unless your bios is set to some dumb logo display thing) and you can also simply go into system information within windows to find out.
Hell you can even find it in your device manager.

multiple places.. google is your friend.

it can either be an amd xp 2800+ or and amd64 2800+, both of which are not powerful enough to get an 8800gts to it's max

you will notice some increase in fps but don't expect wonders.
