1. "The form a is used before consonant sounds and the form an before vowel sounds."
Noticed that they wrote "sounds"? It's not about spelling.

not really, I know its wrong somehow, it doesn't sound right, but I can't put my finger on it.

also if you think just 'teach' goes there, then his sentance was in the past imo..
otherwise I can't think of anything else that would fit.
