... never go to LANS without an Antivir :)
This weekend we got our annual waco LAN + BBQ.
Came home and heard some guys got a pretty lame virus. I installed avast and noticed my pc was also infected (already noticed unusual lag spikes while playing ET)
result after 2 hours of scanning
- 170 infected .exe files (win32, logon screen, ET, Mirc, dreamweaver, all adobe products, ... )
I tried to repair those files but that didn't work out too well. I placed them all in quarantine but replacing those .exe files with clean ones takes ages :((
After 1.5 year and still having a smooth running PC, the day-of-format arrived!
I need to backup 480 gb but fortunately I bought myself a 500gb hard disk just before the LAN
I learned my lesson and i'll run an antivir from now on :)
Greetz,
Rfki
ps: Thanks goes out to Dizzy for the Virus <3

CAN'T STOP IT AAAAAHHHHHHHHH
....WE ALL DIE!!!!!!!!!
btw. im missing Loekino and Heidenreich comments since days. they are on holidays?!?
and dizzy kept on saying that there were no virusses :)
You could just setup your PC correctly then there would be no need for anti-vir (never used it never will), but whatever.
Also, when you format, partition it so you have one drive with only windows on, make it like 10gb or something, then the rest for apps, music, games, everything.
This way to format, all you have to do is backup your registry and "format C:", I do it about once a month :P
