Cider or Lager

Got into an argument about this:

1 can of lager, 4.5% ABV
1 can of cider, 4.5% ABV

Both the same content

Lets just say they are Fosters & Strongbow, but whatever, it doesn't really matter.

Is one stronger than the other, or are they both the same.

i.e. 10 cans of either would have the same affect as 10 cans of the other.

Nearly all cider has a stronger volume than beer.. and is known to get your more drunk also. So even though there the same id go with cider.

Dunno what kind of girls you have but no girls here drink cider.. and actually its WAY stronger than beer so dunno how it would be a girls drink anyway cheap cider here (stonehouse) is 6% Volume.

Cider all the way man. People say "oh, larger is the manly mans drink" and whatnot, but really, apart from a select few (like stella), most of it tastes like pish.

Ice cold glass of Magners any day thanks.

Acquired taste anyone? Most people around your age drink cider because it's easier to like. Back when I was 15/16, I don't think many of my friends liked lager at all.

That's a pretty bold statement, considering you're only 16. Pretty sure you'll end up drinking lager at some stage, seen it happen a load of times. I drank cider when I was your age.

Well I think I misphrased that, as in, I would choose cider over lager, didn't mean always as in the context of time, like forever.

Obviously I can't argue that statement because there is no proof to back it up, but for now I'll stick to my cider and jack daniels!

Stella tastes absolutely foul to me, Grolsch is decent. Proper tapped beer is better than any lager tho.

How you can prefer a disgusting beverage which contains more calories and gives you a bigger hangover over something tasty like cider is above my understanding.

Me I stick to redbull&vodka followed by white russians @ the club.

If you're going to drink something for the taste alone then go with a really good rum or whisky, or maybe an expensive red wine imo. Although some of the quirkier real ales are pretty decent tasting ;D

Cider gives you a much bigger hangover than beer does, it's a lot more sugary. I always seem to wake up with a splitting headache whenever I drink it.

Isnt it the finkel or whatever its called in beer that gives you the bigger headache? I never had a hangover drinking cider however I havent had it any other time either including passing out from vodka&whiskey. :)

I'm not much of a hard liquor drinker. Generally speaking a beer or cider which has a high content of preservatives and/or sugar is more likely to give you a head-hangover, and cider wins hands-down on sugar levels.

If they both have the same alcohol content by volume (ABV) then they'll have the same amount of alcohol and be the same strength, chemically speaking. Any other perceived difference is something else in the drink or psychology. In terms of alcohol by cost cider normally wins hands down tho ;)

Oh, and cider tastes foul, beer ftw (I don't like apple juice either).

Tonight it was cider for me, i drink both and don't think either gets me more drunk, ICE cold Bulmers ftw but can't go wrong with a nice pint of Fosters.

Stella, San miguel, heineken, Viking (icelandic beer:D) all such nice brands :D!!...cider.. not my drink :Pm even tho i can drink a nice girly cotail in the sun :D, such as tequila sunrise.. now thats a nice drink :P!
