I was thinking about going the mac route when I get my uni grant, in fact, like most things, I thought about it deeply; for days I meditated on the pros and cons, my cognitive processes whirred and buzzed with each passing thought of "ooh, pretty" and "wow, a dock!". But then, in the midst of my mac obsession, I had a sudden realisation: it's just a computer!
Anyway, the only reason to get a macbook pro would be if you're a 3rd or 4th year graphics student; you can't even convince yourself that you want the power for games, since a windows machine of similar spec will do just as well as a mac pro running bootcamp. The only reason I had left was the cool, slick apple style, and that just isn't a good reason to lessen my beer and hookers budget.
I'm having much fun playing half-life on my 512mb integrated graphics sempron laptop, except for the meat crabs, damn those meat crabs. Does anybody else hate the meat crabs? The name even sounds wrong, like some flesh eating std.
The 17" MBP is completely pointless. It's just big, heavy and hot. The added 500 € between the basic and upgraded 15" model is a complete waste, unless you're going to use it for gaming.
White MacBook, yeah. Bought the cheapest model, have since beefed it up a bit. As an aspiring engineer, I use it mainly for programming (hell, I even bought TextMate, it's just that good) and Office-stuff and for that it works absolutely great. As of 1.0 VMware Fusion even runs those pesky legacy Windows-only programs used in the business decently. :p

Tbh I think I will ditch my PC if I get a 15" mbp, but I could get a 13" MB and keep my PC too... Hmm.
