Way too many flippant signings combined with the fact that Chelsea don't have any world beater players (Henry, Ronaldinho, Gerrard, Kaka, Ronaldo etc etc you know the types) that most of the best European clubs had at least one of. You can only get so far with having good players and you just can't buy success :-)
no offence but... if u are to put gerrard and ronaldo in that category then u have to put lampard and drogba in that category.
lamps and drogba scored more than 50 goals together last season, both have won ample matches for chelsea. I'd say that this was consistent through last season.
anyways, what we [chelsea] lacked was simply a different type of striker to drogba. Yes, he's strong, he prefers a direct way of play, but what we didnt and never really had was a goal scorer, a very fast striker that brakes the offside trap and has moments of genius [zola <3].
anyways... jose is a great manager and brought success to chelsea again <3
edit: to vila; i for one dont think it was mourinho that left, i think he got 'sacked' ie. was asked to quit, hence why they said, agreed by mutual consent.
Notice how I didn't put Rooney? Discount Drogba. The problem with Lampard is his constituency, always has been, when he plays bad he plays fucking awful and does literally nothing for the team.
Someone like Cristano Ronaldo, even if he plays bad he can score or set up a goal without issues. I mean the last game I can honestly say he played badly was in the AC Milan vs Manchester U CL semi (San Ciro) last season when there was obviously Kaka taking the show..
By match winner, I don't just mean some random Premiership game either. I mean in the quarter/semi finals of the Champions league or the FA Cup finals etc against the best players in the world. Chelsea have a squad full of great players, just not the best players. Why do you think you kept losing in the Champions League semi final so often ? :P

yes i agree lamps is on and off alot, but even when playing bad still contributes to the team
