Raztih and me finished a new template (he did the skinning job, I did the banner), if you post a negative comment, please say what's negative about it, or I will just ignore you, here it is:
thx m8 ;)
- font size is small compared to the norm these days, this is not 1999, websites can have more than font-size:7px now, although crossfire still seems to share this disturbing lack of intelligent design.
- Scrollbar in the "Latest News" section looks shit. Recommend changing it.
- The "Posted by...." line could do with a slight more bottom-padding, maybe just 2/3 more pixels to space to dotted line from te text?
- Don't particularly like the bg colour having the same colour as some of the navigation headers and having nothing to seperate them, but thats more of a personal thing
- Colours, I really dislike them, but I wouldn't be suprised if multi-gaming clans love them, they all look the same anyway :\
pros
- The layout is nice
----
Don't get me wrong, it's a nice design and probably better for an MGC than anything I could do, I'm more of a newschool, typical web2.0 person. Just thought I could point out some things, wether it helps you or not I dunno.
I would definately remove that scrollbar in the latest news though, since scroll bars will render differently on every os/browser no matter how much CSS hacks you use
- The banner is too big
- The font size is too small
- Remove the scrollbar at latest news!! Make Latest news clickable and give a archive of news, but don't do it like this.
- The colours are too standard
But this is what I would change besides the stuff Meez already mentioned:
- Some brushes are spilled on the background
- The curve under the header needs anti aliasing
- I don't like the yellow fonts (make it darker)
- In latest results the word "Lost" has the same yellow colour, I suggest changing it.
- Correct the typos (challange)
- The dotted square behind the menus (Navigation etc) doesn't fit
- Don't like the font in the header
- Parts of page spilling into the background is probably the worst mistake
In general the site just doesn't look harmonious. And it's too ordinary.
Sorry, but it always depends on how serious you want to be. If you just did it for fun, it would be an ok template. But since you want to sell it, you should ask yourself: Would you have showed this picture to some potential buyers? Why do you think they would have bought it/why not? What makes it special? If you really want to sell it, you should come up with something creative that makes people want to throw their money at you. There are just too many mediocre templates available.
