partition mngr + grub

i have grub 1.5 installed on my pc, when i boot i can choose between 8 types of ubuntu or "other operating system", being windows then i can choose between vista and xp

if i use partition manager to format the linux part of my hd, will that affect my grub? in what way? will i be able to boot? :o

if u format the partition ur OS is on, u cant boot, if u have another partition with an OS u should be able to boot...

edit: yes 1st
i have three partitions, all have an OS, if i format two of them and leave 1 i can boot from that 1?

prolly
there is a chance u'll have to change the active partition with a boot diskette: i'm not sure but it"s absolutely possible

i got enough experience with absolute possibilities to try smth like that, no thank you :)

just make a boot diskette with sth like gdisk on it and change boot device to floppy / CD-rom (make a CD with it then...) in BIOS

in gdisk u can format and change active partition..
but prolly u wont even need that
