So yesterday I fucked up my xorg.conf and ended up reinstalling Ubuntu.
I want to get my MX518 buttons working.
Following from the tutorial on how to install ET properly in linux, I'm wondering how hard is it to get it to work and is it best to backup my xorg.conf first before modifying it?

"Use Windows, as you're clearly just using Linux for a novelty factor."

Most people that use Windows (and have the ability/know-how to use Linux) have streamlined Windows disks with all the programs/drivers they need as soon as the new Windows has been installed.
If you want to program for a living sure, install Linux on a laptop. It's the best OS I've used when trying to write code. For games/leisure, just use Windows, it's so much easier than trying to find programs and half-arsed crappy ports.
(Btw Zodiac, the last two paragraphs weren't aimed at you, they where aimed at Panda).
If you got more games you want to play, just get a dualboot.
I'm using Linux Kubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04 on my laptop, because it's just easy in use.
I don't like Gentoo at all. Kubuntu is just like Windows and even my mom can work with it! On Gentoo, she can't! :D
On my pc I'm only using Windows. Some applications what is necassery for my work just doesn't work on Linux. Also not via Wine or any other Virtual PC software :-(.
btw
(Operating system) Microsoft Windows XP Professional (SP2), version 5.1.2600 (28 processes running, 95.66MB free RAM, installed 2y 21w 4d 22h 15m 20s ago, 2h 17m 57s uptime, 23h 33m 44s uptime record)
But before format (I did it to apply nLited windows installation) I had about 2,5 weeks uptime, and would be better, but I had to add a new HDD drive.
worked for me.
