it's the exact same sensor which is used in their newer G1, and that runs at 800DPI...
Furthermore every site on the net states the specifications as:

Resolution: 800 dpi
Acceleration: 15g
Speed: 40 inches
no link, but I tried it. Without mouseware it was exactly the same feeling as with the mx500, and with mouseware it was different, twice the speed with the same settings.
k, weird... i have a G1, which should be the exact same sensor as mx510... i can feel an extreme difference between my MS IE 3.0 and the G1 (had to half my win sens... which corresponds with double the dpi...)
and no i have never had mouseware installed as im an anti-fan of logitechs software developers...
aha, but then again, that they both have 800 dpi doesnt mean they used the same optical sensor heh. The 510 was a improvement because the 500 sucked at 125hz. Oh what a blessing it was when I got the mx500 running at 500Hz. No more random jitter. (sometimes the jitter occured even without any opponents in sight)
oh but the datapath has nothing to do with the dpi heh I dunno nothing about datapath btw), but maybe they pre-configured the sensor to 800 dpi instead of having the mouseware to do so? I don't know because they give so little info on mice (at least I can't find any good info's)

I noticed alot of difference with and without mouseware and by after I've read about dpi changes with mouseware.

According to Logitech, the G1 Optical Mouse is "...Based on the technology that powered the best-selling Logitech MX 510 Performance Optical Mouse..."
The only change as far as i've been able to find online is that the usb data paths is upped from 8 bit to 12 bit...
