I think players like them should think like vdVaart... he got the ability to sign wherever he wanted but he choose for a minor topclub. Maybe i'm just jalous because we have no international footballstars in Belgium :D
face it the england players are just the most overhyped in the world. just look through all the so called "world class" players in the england squad and at their club they are partnered in their position with a world class foreigner who makes them look good:

Ferdinand - Vidic
Lampard - Makele + Essien
Rooney - Tevez + Ronaldo
I could go on. Lampard is possibly the most overrated footballer of all time. he does absolutely nothing for your team except score penalties. he hasnt scored in open play for england in over 400 mins.
Terry is massively overrated as well.
But that aside a quality coach would have got them to the european championship. If hiddink can do it for russia and bilic can do it for croatia why cant mclaren do it for england? every game under his charge he has been massively outdone tactically by the oppositions manager.
mclaren had to go, so do half the squad.
what was mclaren thinking before that croatia game?trying a new formation in the countries most important game in almost 4 years. putting a goalkeeper in that has NEVER PLAYED A COMPETITIVE GAME FOR ENGLAND. and the fact that players like lennon and green and shorey weren't in the squad but players like wes brown were? that proves that the keyboard im writing has more tactical astuteness than that man.
